Britain's Got Talent: George Sampson has rare spine condition

gsamp.jpg
There's something quite reassuring about the fact that we didn't about this until after he won the talent show. It's almost enough to make me believe the producers don't hand out questionnaires to auditionees with questions like "do you have anything interesting wrong with you?" on them...

Almost, but not quite. George Sampson told The Sun that he has Scheuermann's disease, a curvature of the spine that left him blind in one eye last year. The 14-year-old said: "The eye was all inflamed. The spinal nerves were trapped and it affected my optic nerves. I lost all my coordination and it was really hard to dance, as I didn't have my balance. I kept bumping into everything." Stop! Too cute! I mean, sad.

Doctors say the dancing could exacerbate his condition, but George won't quit. "There's no way I'd ever give up dancing. Nothing would stop me."
