Britain's Got Talent: curse of George Sampson?

gsamp.jpgA couple of things have come up this week which force to me to ask - is the latest BGT winner cursed? Perhaps you think I'm over-reacting. I bet you said that about those Superman curse theorists too though, didn't you. Then he died.

Anyway - here's what I'm worried about with Georgie...

So this chap called Howard Fifer has gone on record to say that he thinks the BGT producers nicked his act and gave it to George. He used the same Mint Royale track and many of the same dance moves.

"My act was break-dancing in the rain. George's routine was exactly the same as mine and I can't believe it was a coincidence," Howard told the News of the World. "I believe the producers saw me and thought it was a good concept, and wanted George to perform it on the show. They still have my audition on tape and I'd like them to release it.

"I know I can't dance anywhere near as well as George, [you *sure* you want them to release it?] and I wish him well. But I feel I had my chance to shine taken away from me."

Howard's audition was seen in October last year by three of the show's producers, and he was opening his rejection letter within days. "I just want my chance to be able to perform for Simon Cowell," he added. "I clearly have great ideas, now I just need the smooth moves like George to go with it."

Britain's Got Talent producers say it's all a big coincidence. As indeed it may be. If you believe in them.

But it doesn't stop there. George may be struggling to cope with 'fame'. Blimey, how would he cope with it without the inverted commas? He's surrounded by security guards on tour and getting upset about stories in the press, like this one. Take it easy George, we love you man.
