It's sad but inevitable. Well, maybe you don't think it's sad but at least she brought some colour to the boardroom. Yes, fluffy art teacherish lady Lucinda Ledgerwood has been given the boot. According to Sir A, she's just too "zany" to work in his company.

Following the usual semi-final interviews with Sir Alan's colleagues and associates, all five candidates were called into the boardroom. He asked Lucinda: "It seems that when you're not in charge it falls apart. What do you say about that?"

There were also questions about whether she really wanted the job. Lucinda believes it's about likeability: "I wasn't liked; my accent wasn't liked, my approach to life wasn't liked, what I wore wasn't liked. I am who I am; I don't need to answer to them."

Alex Wotherspoon, Lee McQueen, Claire Young and Helene Speight will compete in next week's final. The Apprentice final goes out next Wednesday, 9pm, BBC One.
