Last Comic Standing: not so 'real' after all?

lcst.jpg
A new series of the stand-up comedian talent contest is about to begin (with our very own Fearne Cotton poised to co-host) and it's no stranger to controversy. Fresh troubles are brewing today, as word has it, producers have more say in who goes through than the judges do. Neal Justin writes on Freep.com:

"The big twist this season is that different celebrities are playing "talent scouts" in each audition city. But it doesn't quite work that way. Following the Minneapolis auditions, judges Brian Baumgartner and Kate Flannery, stars of 'The Office,' went behind closed doors, presumably to come to a consensus. The two admitted afterward that producers played a significant role in making the final call and that they were frustrated that some of their favorites got passed over."

Ooh! Well, clip from a previous semi-final below...Lori Chase, ladies and gentlemen: (I know - why didn't she do a joke about her name sounding like something from an industrial British action movie, right? Still, she's funnier than the average member of the public. Just.)
