It's all there in The Star, folks. This year's Big Brother house will host 16 hopefuls, and they're going to be "the most hot-headed housemates the show has ever seen". Sigh. More fights and screaming. Bring back Celebrity Hijack! At least those kids had the common human decency to badmouth the other housemates behind their backs.

A show source said: "Get ready for Big Big Brother. With so many people waiting to burst through those doors at Elstree TV Studios, it'll be like the January sales at Next! The house may have had some alterations but in such a confined space it's a tight squeeze - and tempers can flare quickly in there."

Davina McCall will introduce the 16 new housemates in a two-hour Channel 4 show on June 5. This year's series will be (groan) 13 weeks long and rumours of what's in store include: a wet room (bathroom lacking shower screens) and a child-sized bed.
