What do you make of this? Cowell's paid off the mortgage (about £80,000) of a couple whose young daughter has cancer. He didn't do it quietly, or anonymously, or anything, of course. He didn't just do it on telly. He did it on Oprah. I'm not trying to sway your vote here, just want you to have all the facts. So, what's it all about? Is he trying to persuade the yanks he's not all so nasty, after all? Trying to get some press for Leona in the US? Or just (gasp) genuinely a nice guy...?
