Darius was always a favourite of Panto's, so it's great to hear that he'll be playing Rhett Butler in a Trevor Nunn production of Gone With The Wind on the West End this summer.

The 27 year old Pop Idol star will be taking on the role made famous by Clark Gable in the 1939 film. The Scot isn't new to the West End though - he's starred in Chicago and Guys And Dolls in recent years, but this will be his biggest role so far.

"It doesn't seem real - I'm over the moon," he told the Standard from Los Angeles. "Just being asked to audition for Trevor Nunn was such a privilege." He's looking forward to getting to grips with the character too:

"It's such a loved work of art in celluloid and one of the greatest love stories of all time," said Darius. "Rhett is such a wonderful and funny and charming alpha male, as well as a bit of a brute and rough diamond." Fluster.
