Six days already, amazing innit. Russell Brand was directing the hapless little ones yesterday. He's a big part of their generation and fitted in pretty well, putting his own spin on it by improvising instructions over the tannoy like a smooth compere.

Highlights included him getting Jay into the diary room to spin him a massive yarn - "My image was constructed by a focus group"... "Stephen Hawking don't need that chair"; telling Amy that when she's asleep she looks "like a Pope lying in state" and saying in hushed, earnest tones that "since Diana died the nation's been looking for a new Queen of Hearts - I think that's you." Excellent idea about getting Paul Garner to play a "disgruntled cameraman" and instruct the kids to stay away from him. I don't usually like Russell much, but this was great stuff - like Chris Morris back when he still had good ideas. As usual, clip over the turn!
