GMTV presenter and Strictly Come Hobbling contestant Kate Garraway has had her Volkwagen Beetle crushed because she failed to pay the road tax. Fortunately, she wasn't in it at the time.

Kate hasn't been able to drive since contracting tendonitis during intensive rehearsals for Strictly Come Dancing. She left her car parked near her home, a warden clamped it and when the fine still hadn't been paid after 24 hours, it was taken it to a pound. When Kate hadn't collected it a week later, it was crushed.

A friend of Garraway told The Sun: “Kate has been in agony with tendonitis and was banned from driving by her doctor. She couldn’t even walk, let alone drive.

“So the car was just sitting around the corner. She didn’t even know it had been taken until a few days ago and really thought it was still at the pound... Kate is gutted, she really loved that car. It must be worth about £10,000 and there were personal items in it." Sorry Kate, sucks to be you at the moment... but the law's the law.
