Shawn Klush wins The World's Greatest Elvis
Well, this was a very odd show, but it ended up with a very worthy winner. In the first show last week, various Elvis impersonators - or Elvis tribute artists, ETAs, as they like to be called - battled to be the best of the particular era they specialised in, be it young Elvis, GI, aloha (?), '68 comeback or jumpsuit. I only tuned in at the very end, but one guy, a Mr. Shawn Klush, stood out a mile. This guy LIVES Elvis. His mannerisms, his movement, his voice... to be honest, he was right to the point of being a little creepy. He was the only reason I watched the following week, and sure enough he won.
He performed Suspicious Minds, and it was spot on. I wanted to be sceptical, and as I've seen 'Elvis: That's The Way It Is' far too many times, I knew I'd be able to pick up on any wrong moves, but the thing is, he just didn't make any. Klush's winning moments, and performance of The Wonder Of You can be found here, or you could pop over the cut, and watch the real thing... all hail The King.
