It's the 20th Anniversary of Dirty Dancing, which makes me feel very old, as indeed I am, and LIVING has seized the opportunity to turn the classic film into reality tv.

It sounds like the most fabulous theme park in the world, but the Dirty Dancing experience is, I'm afraid, just a new sort of reality TV. For the ten-part reality series, Dirty Dancing: The Time of Your Life, 16 dancers will be flown to the original film location and invited to revive the old magic. The hope is that a real life Baby and Johnny dance duo will be found for a new generation of starry-eyed romantics.

The eight couples will consist of a female who has had some dancing experience and a slightly older male who is an accomplished dancer, to create the Baby/Johnny relationship dynamic from the film, reports Digital Spy.

The head of commissioning at Living, Clare Hollywood, said: “With Dirty Dancing we wanted to put a 'Living twist’ on a very current trend. The show isn’t about winning a role in the musical version or a straightforward dance competition, this is all about giving people the much coveted Dirty Dancing experience."
