Dannii Minogue defends X Factor age limit
Dannii Minogue has defended X Factor dropping its age limit to 14 but admits that pushy mums are a problem. Previously, Girls Aloud 'singer' Cheryl Cole had criticised the show and said young entrants can be too vulnerable. Cole claimed that teenagers will struggle to cope with the pressures of appearing on the ITV1 talent series. "At that age, you're very delicate. You are going through your teenage years which are the craziest of your life," Cheryl told The Sun. "You don't quite know if you're coming or going or who you are. To have someone criticise you when you're that young is very hard. Give them a few years, a chance to finish school and they'll be ready."
Minogue responded by saying that "There are people who handle the pace and people who can't. Fourteen or 40, it makes no difference." Talking of pushy mums, she added that over-enthusiastic mothers are an issue. Talking to the Radio Times, she said: "Mumzillas we called them. Following their kids around with boxes of make-up and forever sewing sequins on."
