6pm: Classic Big Brother - Highlights of BB1

It's nearly the end of the series, and maybe the end of BB as we know it. It's certainly the end for the Elstree/Borehamwood house. And as we psych ourselves up for the final (Elstree-based) eviction, let's take a moment to reflect on this show's humble beginnings.

It all started in the summer of 2000, and Big Brother was a very different animal then. There was only one house for a start. Hold onto your hats when I tell you there were a mere 11 housemates, most of whom were at least 25 years old. No one got up to any monkey business, there were no credible romances, and once you were out, you were out. I know! Without BB springing endless cruel surprises on a carnival of colourful freaks, how could we possibly have found it all so gripping? Maybe this clip will refresh your memory.

Lovely Craig donated his winnings to a friend who needed a heart and lung transplant. We voted for him after the Nasty Nick incident, because he stood up for what was right in the face of breathtaking evil. I saw Craig on telly this morning actually. Don't get too excited, he's still working as a builder. Well, good for him.
