4pm: Big Brother - doing his bit for charity
As we may have mentioned a few times, Big Brother has a bit of a tendency to get himself into trouble. Whether it's trouble with text votes, thousands of people voting to evict Nikki only to see her return to the house, or the rather more critical issue of racist bullying, Big Brother always manages to keep itself in the news, and not always for the right reasons.
But instead of admitting defeat and shutting up shop, this year the producers have tried a different tact, in giving a percentage of the phone vote revenue to charity. Samaritans, Crisis and Help The Hospices are all receiving money, and if you head on over the cut, then you'll find websites, and information about each of the organisations.
Samaritans - Samaritans is an organisation which provides a confidential listening and advice service for absolutely anyone who picks up the phone, or sends them an email. At the moment, Channel 4's Big Brother site is flagging up a specific service for students - and their parents -worrying about exam results.
Voices For Hospices - The BB site is also highlighting a 'Mexican Wave' of music concerts across the globe which aim to promote World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, 6 October.
Crisis - This is a national homelessness charity, and last month the BB site promoted its fundraising event, Summer Art Show, which sold artworks by talented homeless people.
