3pm: Yay Or Nay Wednesday - Are you watching Big Brother's Big Mouth?
I know that Russell Brand isn't everyone's favourite person, but he was made for Big Brother's Big Mouth. When he was given his own TV show a while back, it was really quite rubbish, as he had nothing to undermine, nothing to subvert, but on BBBM, he really could shine. Who else but Mr. Brand would use Nietzsche quotes to talk about the goings-on of the house?
His intelligent - and often surprisingly humane - humour cut through the dark moments of this year's Celebrity Big Brother, without ever trivialising them. While Dermot, usually a fantastic presenter, struggled with what tone he should take, Russell got it spot on night after night.
But then Brand felt that BB had lost its innocence, and decided it was time to go, leaving a gaping hole. The producers decided that they'd go down the Have I Got News For You/Never Mind The Buzzcocks* route and have guest hosts. I've tried to watch BBBM since then... but generally it's truly awful, and there's no way I'm watching Richard and Judy's kids presenting a show simply because they're Richard and Judy's kids, though I'm sure they're lovely people.
The spark has gone, and I am for one am not watching... at all. But what about you lot?
*Speaking of Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Simon Amstell would be really good, wouldn't he? There's no way he'd do it though...

yeah thats a good host, simon amstell, Russell was amazing on that show, the reasonit seems to be so bad though is because instead of trying to change the format of the show to suit the hosts they are just trying to find a russell brand replica...most of the host have even been wearing skinny jeans and a waistcoat!
ITS NOT GONNA WORK
the only way this show will be watchable is if they accept russell has gone and find a new format.

Russell really was brilliant on the show - the show is built on improvisation, which is where his comedy works best (incidently, the second funniest place to find Russell is his Radio 2 show again due to its lack of script). The presenters now are rarely comedians, lack the skills to adlib, and really don't have enough confidence in their presenting to interact with the audience in an interesting way, which is the whole point in the show.
