Yay Or Nay Wednesday: Is touchy-feely Big Bro good for the show?
As BB gave Charley a quick slap on the wrist this weekend, I was going to ask 'Will Charley ever change?' But she's already taken over the whole TV show, we don't have to let her take over here as well.
So, let's talk about something completely different. Have you noticed, as I have, that Big Brother has turned into a big softie? Maybe I have false memory syndrome, but I'm sure that BB has been rather more officious in previous years. Clearly, they have still had to take a serious tone with, say, Emily and Laura, but apart from that Big Brother has been acting like, well, a big brother.
While we've usually been actuely aware that whoever's providing BB's voice is having to stick closely to a script, it seems that they've been allowed to ad-lib more this year, and actually directly react to what has been said by the housemate in the chair. Sometimes, it even feels like a two-way conversation.
Is this a good thing? I'm torn. On one hand, it means that the Diary Room scenes are much more entertaining, but then isn't BB meant to keep his distance, and show 'em who's boss? Let me know what you think. [annawaits]
