Here's the official statement from Channel 4 regarding Jonathan's departure:

"In the early hours of this morning, Jonathan left the Big Brother House for personal reasons."

We know that the 'personal reasons' were that his grandmother died.

The question remains what will happen now. Should Big Brother send in another housemate? Or is there enough in there already? I always like to see a new face -- it gives me more to chat about -- but at the same time the group dynamic is at a nice stage now and a new person might just cause everything to kick off.

Chances are it'll be a bloke, though, as there's a ratio of 7 women to 4 men now.

Early nomination rumour rumblings suggest that it'll be Charley, Laura and Carole up for the boot this week. If that is the case, Carole will be safe (again, yawn...) but the battle between Charley and Laura will be a photo-finish.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I Charley stays.

Oh, and Amanda is still a hot dog.
