Celebrity BB haunts Channel 4 once again
The murky shadow of Ofcom looms over Big Brother tonight after Emily was kicked out of the house.
You can almost hear the slippery sound of broadsheet editors licking their lips as they're finally given the opportunity to cover Big Brother without fear of being accused of dumbing down.
It was always inevitable that the first housemate to show signs of racist tendencies would be strictly disciplined. But was it harsh to kick out Emily based on her comments to Charley and Nicky?

It's a toughie. Although clearly not an acceptable word, 'n*gger' is becoming more and more colloquial -- especially between young people. Yes, Emily should have known better, but I'm convinced Emily's eviction was a kneejerk reaction from Channel 4, who are clearly at the mercy of Ofcom following Celebrity Big Brother.

They barely scraped through the Shilpa fiasco, so one more controversial moment could prove too much for Channel 4 -- not to mention its advertisers.
A sad end to Emily's time in the Big Brother house, but on this occasion, I don't think Channel 4 had any choice.
