BREAKING NEWS: Emily removed from house for using "racially offensive" language
Emily was removed from the house in the early hours of this morning after using the n-word. Apparently, when dancing with Charley last night, Emily asked the south-London It-girl, "Are you pushing it out, you n*gger?" in reference to her dance moves.
A conversation followed during which Charley and Nicky agreed that they were not personally offended, although they did express some shock at Emily's language. Emily's defence after her latest foot-in-mouth incident was that she has friends with whom she regularly engages in such language outside the house, but she did acknowledge that she should have been more careful with her words. Clearly Channel 4's sensitivity over racially-related matters after Celebrity Big Brother is such that this excuse was not deemed acceptable.
Angela Jain, head of Channel 4's commissioning team, said: "Emily understands why her involvement in Big Brother has had to come an end and she very much regrets what she said.
"In the wake of Celebrity Big Brother we must consider the potential offence to viewers regardless of Emily's intentions and her housemates' response. The word nigger is clearly racially offensive and there was no justification for its use."
Emily was called to the diary room at 3.30am to be told the news - this week's eviction vote has been suspended as a result. Could this create another storm over phone-voting? Will those who have voted already be refunded? Watch this space...
